Where would I look to find someone with a Water Jet?

I will soon be starting a kitchen backsplash using 4"x4", 3/8" thick PEI 5 Rating Porcelain Tiles and I know from reading around this message board the outlet cutouts are virtually impossible with this brand and composition of tile. A few people have suggested using a Water Jet to do the outlet cutouts which sounds like a very good idea.

My question is ... where do I find someone with a Water Jet that can cut a handful of these tiles for me as described? I have no idea where to even look.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

the local phone book or online yellow pages would be a start.

You are all the way in Michigan stonemason777

I'm thinking you can't simply look under 'Water Jet' in the yellow pages to find one ...lol, and I would assume not every installer or tile shop has a Water Jet.

So should I simply start calling installers and ask if they have one? What would you suggest is best?

A waterjet is a big and EXPENSIVE piece of equipment, not something installers or regular tile shops buy. They are usually owned by specialized shops.

Try the yellow pages, you'd be surprised.

BTW: It's usually very expensive. I wouldn't use it for a simple outlet cutout.

Chris,

You can check out the OMAX website. They have some testimonials from some of their customers. I was interested in a water jet application and I called a guy that was listed on their website. You may need to call the company to see if they have any people using their product in your area.
