Grout lines

is there a standard for the grout line height? Level or almost level to the tile? I have finished grouting a few days ago and the grout lines seem to low to me. the tiles are 13 x 13 ceramic floor tiles with a beveled edge. Can a thin layer of grout now be applied to bring up the height? Thanks.

I am trying to remember how John put it in his book. Something like "As full as possible with straight lines". That's not quite right. Maybe it's "Wipe the joints until the lines are straighten out and then stop. You want them as full as possible". That doesn't seem right either. Hang tight, you'll get answers.
