trowel size--grout size

I have a question on what sized notched trowel to use. I have a 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 trowel now and was wondering if that will work for 13x13 porcelain kitchen floor tile and 8x8 bath floor tile.

Also what size grout to use. I've been told 1/4 is a good size for the 13x13 but how about for 8x8's? Maybe 1/4 will work there too? It's in a 9x12 bath.

Thanks much

1/4" grout line is fine for both. I prefer a 3/16" grout line but that's just a preference.
1/4" trowel will work for both. Pull up the first tile you lay and check out the transfer. 85% coverage is good. If you need more transfer you can flat trowel the back sides of your tile or go to a 3/8" trowel.
