Redgard above and below deckmud...

I am in the middle of remodeling my shower due to a leak. I have been trying to do overkill, and wanted to make sure I have not hurt myself with my process.

1. preslope
2. liner on pan floor and benches
3. installed CBU on walls and benches (yes screwed thru liner on bench)
4. Rolled two coats of Redgard on CBU, overlaping on to PVC liner
5. installed final deckmud
6. Rolled on two coats of Redgard over final deck mud overlapping onto walls.

I just wanted to see if anyone could think of any issues with applying the Redgard over the final deck.

I will be starting tile tomorrow.

Hi Jon
You dont want to redguard the deck mud if you have a vinyl pan under
it. There is no need for starters and secondly you will be creating
what we call a moisture sandwhich.
