Can smooth surfaced tile be painted?
I have just purchased a home in which the tile in the bathroom are white red & black. Kind of like a checkerboard. I can handle the white and black but the red have to go! Suggestions anyone?

Sonnie Layne, our resident painter/tile setter/chef/horticulturist/wine expert and poet, knows the "best" way to do it, but the best isn't all that great. Nothing will hold up in a shower, for example.
