Searching for matching tile

We are struggling to find a close match to this 16" x 16" existing tile. While removing a kitchen island we exposed a small missing patch in a large room. It is a golden brown color with slightly wave edges and surface. Probably about 10 years old. Would really appreciate any insight that might help find a similar tile!

Hi Matt,

It's going to be tough. Could there be a box stored in the attic?

Sadly only the one tile left behind and we need 12. Thank you for the quick response.

Hi, Matt.

Even if we gave you the exact name and manufacturer and every single retailer that ever carried it, it’s just about impossible to find it. Thousands of tiles are available at any given time and they are discontinued on a regular basis. Once they are discontinued for a few months, it becomes extremely difficult to find any. And a couple months after that, it becomes near impossible. You’re talking about a tile that’s a decade old.

There are some specialty companies that sell discontinued tile. You can investigate them. No matter what, you’ll need a boatload of luck.

It is more useful to see the back of the tile than the front to identify the manufacturer. I have thousands of discontinued tiles but they are mostly wall tiles because they were usually made for many more years than floor tiles. Unlike those from a nationally known manufacturer, import tiles that are sold at home improvement centers are next to impossible to find as they are often a one time shipment. Most contractors buy from regular tile stores that often carry tiles for longer time periods and some will hold on to leftovers from jobs for possible future repairs. Besides always being sure to buy extra when you do an install, stick with brand names tiles such as Dal, Florida, Marazzi, etc which are much more likely to be available.
