help

I'm getting ready to install tile onto a surface that cement board has already been installed. I am told that the floor is not level so I'm thinking that a self leveler is in need. My question is, can a self leveler be used over cement board before installing tile? If so, any suggestions on what kind?

Thanks in advance,
Jamie

Level isn't necessarily too important. Flat is.

Yes you can use slc over backer board

Careful though, not all levelers can be used over cement board. Read the specs or call the company to make sure. Most will require a primer over the cbu as well. Does the cbu have thinset under it? Are the seams taped? Is the subfloor and joist structure up to par for tile? These are all things to take into consideration before installing
