Substitute non Schluter wire

Can we use another 220 wire instead of Schluterís in their Duo product. seems it should work the same. Thanks

The spacing and wattage/foot of the cable along with the total diameter would determine whether it would work, and how well it would snap into the mat. If the wire and insulation was a bit smaller, it might not stay in the groove. If it was too big, it may be either really hard to get it in there, or it may pop out on its own and in a worst case scenario, it might stick up above the mat making it messy to try to spread thinset or set tile without issues. You'd probably want to use the thermostat designed for the cable in use, but the Schluter one MIGHT work properly. It's a good idea to install a redundant floor sensor in case one (eventually) does go bad. Schluter includes one with the thermostat and another with each cable assembly, so you'll always have at least two you can install.
