cutting mosaic tile

I may not be calling it the right name but this is a sheet of 3/4 X 1.5" tile pieces on a plastic mesh; meant for grouting once in place. Called "Premium Mosaics." My wife would like to cut 5 tile-height lengths and have it as a backsplash on a laundry room counter (not much water danger). My questions are:

* grouting as for any tile? The grout I used for the floor OK?
* how to cut this thin 1/16th shell-like tile?

I should mention that in side-profile, these tiles are not uniform; they get thinner in places.

I need to do very little cutting but some areas will be obvious. Can I score and snap them? Use a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel? I hope to avoid a tile saw as it is a small job.

The product can be seen at: https://www.msistone.com/shell-glass/santorini/

Or can I do a sloppy job of cutting and use some sort of stainless steel profile to hide the rough edge? Your comments are welcome!

Those are glass so you might try scoring them with a glass cutting tool and snap them with running pliers. Hopefully the only cuts you will have will be cross ways of the tiles and not length ways.

I have bought tools here before. http://www.delphiglass.com/glass-cut...p-glass-cutter

thanks

Thanks Davy. These are small tiles so I was wondering if not better to place the score line on a metal lip and breaking the whole waste piece at once with a wide piece of wood, rather than use running pliers. I really don't need to make many breaks but being clean, sharp breaks is key. Your thoughts?

You can try it, John. The running pliers aren't flat. They have an arch shape so when pressing on the tiles it forces the sides down. Kinda hard to explain.

Dremel tool

Thanks for the advice. Eventually I made use of a cut off wheel on a Dremel tool - cuts very neatly. This wouldn't work if the mosaic was thicker than 1/8th but this time it turned out to be the solution. Now I have to grout something that isn't flat!
