Protecting drywall edge

Doing a small bathroom remodel. The tub is in plane with the studs on one side. Wondering what people think the best way to terminate the wall covering to the tub. On ones I've done before the tub is set in leaving like at least a 5" space on the wall to tile next to the tub. The client only wants tile above the tub, but I would be very worried about just having an exposed drywall edge caulked to the tub, this is going to be a very exposed and wet area.

Any ideas of what to do?

You don't have a lot of room to add waterproofing in that area. I'd use Greenskin then tile.

For when DIY isn't such a good idea...

That area alongside the tub apron is one of the most common areas to suffer moisture damage. I'd carefully talk sense to the homeowner into properly waterproofing and protecting that area.
