Recessed U-Channel in Curb for Glass

Does anyone have experience with using DK Hardware's Recessed U Channel for 3/8"glass recess? It seems like a good option to avoid using clips to hold shower glass on the curb. We will have a walk around 4' glass wall to enter a 4' x 7' walk in shower.

Do you have a link to the product you're planning to use?

I've set a few u-channels in the curb when the tile is set. I siliconed the channel directly to the waterproofing layer, then to the tile on both sides.

If this is your plan, you should verify that the glass doesn't extend past the channel, as it does with some manufacturers for different reasons.

Also make sure that the channel is free of burrs and sharp edges that might puncture the waterproofing.

It's never a good idea to drill into a horizontal surface in a shower, so good on you for planning ahead.

What I liked about this channel is it has edges that lip over the tile for water deflection and is barely visible. It can be cut to length and has ends that can be added during the channel installation. I would definitely file it smooth after cutting it to length.

Yeah, that'll work.

Depending on the thickness of the tile and setting bed, those edges may not go over the edge of the tile, since they're barely over 1/2" from the bottom of the channel.

That's something you can determine at the time you set it.

Keep in mind that you may avoid using the clips on the panels but something else you want to avoid is a pivot hinge that mounts to the curb. You want a door that hinges on the jamb instead of a pivot hinge.
