foam board

Last week I went to a kerdi clinic, and they were showing off the unavailable kerdi board. I was very interested, but put-off, so I went on a search to find a suitable foam board backer, and I came up with stucco-shield by atlas roofing. I am wondering if anybody has used it. Thanks, Steve

Interesting stuff, but it doesn't say anything about bieing actually WaterPROOF.

Tape and seam systems don't say ti. Says nothing about covering fastners that are nailed thru the board.

Me of all peop[le will not tell you it won't work, just that you're on your own as to installation method and warranty.

As for bonding tile to it, what are the differences between polymer stucco and thinset? And the weight of the tile?

you might just have to wait for kerdi board..

The thick stuff they have is for countertops, no plywood needed underneath. They have a park bench built out of nothing but thick kerdiboard and screws at CTEF and its solid

I forgot to mention than my intent is to put kerdi on the foam board. It also says stucco shield takes a hard coat.

Might just as well put drywall up. I've not heard of stucco shield, but I'll bet my next paycheck it costs more psf than drywall.

Screw the sh$trock, the reason I like kerdi is because of its versatility for non traditional applications. I am not looking for advice on what materials to use, I am interested if anyone is using alternative backer materials. Wow that was a little nasty, sorry I hate sheetrock

Wedi- board is the foam board we use on some of our installs, pretty good product.
