You and most of the manufacture brethren were definitely averse to uncoupling. It is with irony I look at how things have shaken out over the years and now the concept is embraced by all. Actually, the development of said standard goes a few decades. One reason I supported the inclusion in the handbook was the assurances that a standard development would be done in conjunction with other manufactures back in 1998. It was assured again when the expansion of methods occurred. Then about a decade ago we heard from MMSA how ISO was wrapping it up. Fortunately, I am no longer actively involved. Retirement is a wonderful thing.
