Kerdi remodel drain

I got my first remodel drains this week & tried to use one today but there is a problem...no way to line any holes up or even drill new ones thru the metal ring - the ring is bigger than the standard clamping drain we see in this area. Anybody else tried these or had this problem?

John, i thinks you may have the wrong adaptor for the particular drain you have, only problem I had was threading the bolts through the factory holes and lining them up.

Jeremy - After seeing your pics I definitely think I have a different adapter - mine is bigger than yours

I sent pics to my rep and called my distributor but nothing was mentioned about different sized adapters. My impression was that it was a one size fits all.

I didn't lose much time over it though - went ahead and cut the old out & glued a standard kerdi drain until I could get an answer. I'll check with them both tomorrow.

Thanks

I think you got the commerical adapter, the residential one just came out, after using it, id rather just cut out the old anyway.

Yea - I wondered about it being worth the effort. I've pretty much got the cuttung & glueing down to a tee -& think I feel better with the glued connection vs the clamped. But I am willing to give it a go a time or two before making a call.

That looks like the commercial 4'' adapter that andy showed us at schluter class-- Remember?

I'm glad you mentioned this cuase I am ordering an adapter for a shower I'm doing in 2 weeks and have to make shure i get the right one. Can't glue it in cause the plumbing was already pressure tested and inspected.

Jason - you are right I forgot about that until you mentioned it - glad someone was paying attention

I did talk to my distributor today and he confirmed they had ordered the wrong drain.
