New construction - tile to hardwood

Hi everybody.

My wife and I are building a new house. There will be about a 28ft long area where tile & hardwood will meet. I'd like the 3/4" hardwood and ceramic tile to be even (this is basically down the center of the house).

The subfloor is now 3/4" Advantech. What is the recipe to get these two to meet up nice & even? 1/2" ply under the hardwood and 5/8" under the tile with Ditra? Or?

The ceramic tile I've bought is roughly .314" thick.

Thanks for your help - Steven

Here's my receipe:
With the tile coming in at 5/16";
a layer of 1/4" backerboard (4/16");
plus thin-set allowance of another 3/16" (backerboard and tile);
all that totals 12/16" or 3/4" = hardwood flooring.

So do you think it's OK for me to lay the CBU directly on top of the of the 3/4" Advantech, or should I put some 1/2" plywood under everything (tile & wood) first?

With this being new constructions, that's all the floor is right now is the 3/4" Advantech.

Thanks - Steven

Steven,

If the tile is ceramic, the 3/4 advantec is plenty.

Hi Steven, you can put the CBU on the Advantech if you are using ceramic or porcelain
