OK all, I have received my Kerdi products and Drain. Oh yeah and my Instructions (Thanks David)
Since I had to cut out the 3 piece old/new drain (that was just installed).
I decided to lay in a bit more mud.
The hole size was a good deal larger than what was needed for the new kerdi drain. So I took the template that came with the new drain and cutout that dimension in the center of a piece of 3/4 stock and screwed it to the bottom side of the subfloor.
I then preped the sloped mud bed with thinset mixed just a bit loose and went over the entire area. I then laid in more mud ontop of the thinset, ensuring that i had an 1 inch under the new drain flange. (the 3/4 stock with the new whole cut into it) prevented the new mud packed under the new drain from dropping out and down into the crawl space and gave it a foundation.
I then added more mud to the rest of the presloped mud base and finished it off.
I guess that I am ready to start applying the kerdi memebrane to everything.
SO CX have I acomplished this to your greatnesses specs?
I do have a question ( but of course) if you look at the pictures, I have installed CBU (durock) to the entire area except to the shelf area of the niche's. the back wall of the niche's are durock but not the sides or the shelf.
Will the Laticrete 317 adhere the kerdi to these areas along with the rest of the durocked areas?
I will be lightly wetting down the durock so that the thinset will be able to cure out properly(As suggested in these forums, somewhere I read)
Will be waiting for an experts reply before preceeding.
