Discontinued?

I've heard that USG will discontinue their shower systems by the end of 2019.

This is unfortunate as it has become my shower system of choice. I love not needing washers for the foam board, and the drain assemblies can't be beat.

I'll be looking at other options soon.

I understand it will be continued under a different name.

Any further commentary on who will/may be picking up the Durock shower system?

I sent out a query several days ago, Matt. To date, no response. And that's a bit unusual for those fellas.

I won't say who right now, but the system has been picked up and will hopefully be in production before Durock shuts it down. Please see the new thread in this forum entitled "Name a Shower System.

As of today the unofficial report from the official source is that there is still no known date for the reemergence of the products, but we should know something within a couple months.

The semi-official word is that TYW will keep a finger on the pulse of this product line so long as it still appears to have a pulse.

For the foam core boards USG is my favorite over WEDI, Goboard, and Schluters. Also re-assuring that such a large building materials company was behind it (piece of mind). Shame they stopped making it.

I reckon the shower membrane is no more. I tried to order some last night online and can't find it anywhere. Several sites still have it listed, but as "unavailable" or "out of stock".

I need only about 25 square feet to finish the shower I'm currently on, so I guess I'll have to improvise.

A sad thing, to be sure.

I have not spoken with the product owner for some months and have no idea where the production of the product might stand at this point. It was still being promised earlier this year, but...........

I can make you have what you need, Kevin. Gimme a call, eh?

I haven't heard from the owner in several months. Been meaning to call him, but fact that he hasn't tried to contact me tells me things aren't good. It was a great product line. I really hate to see it go.

I never tried Durock membrane but always heard good things about it. I'd be curious from you guys that have used it what you think of ValueSeal from Noble.

I really like ValueSeal and am just wondering how it stacks up to Durock. Anybody know?

ValueSeal is still too thick and too rigid for my liking, Jim. I find it more manageable than NobleSeal, but I favor Kerdi over either of the Noble membranes and I favor the Durock membrane over Kerdi by a substantial margin.

But I've been told by others that they actually prefer the NobleSeal because of the very reasons I don't like it. Different strokes.

Moved to a new house and was looking to remodel the shower using the same base materials as the last. Sad to see this is not available. The Durock stuff worked great.
