Cleaning Oil Stained Grout on Kitchen Floor

We had a beautiful tile floor installed in our kitchen two years ago, but last month a bottle of cooking oil was spilled on it. We tried to clean it up right away with various household degreasing products, but the light tan grout in that spot is still ugly and dark. Are we doomed to having the grout removed and redone? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Try this, it is a poultice that will pull the oil out of the grout.

Either of these 2 products should work fine. It's a powder that you let sit on the stain and it should absorb the oil. It's extremely easy to use. There are ways to make your own poultice at home which could be found online but chances are you'll spend more time and money on that than you would if you just end up buying it.

Thanks so much for your help; we'll definitely try the recommended products and am keeping my fingers crossed that my floor will look as good as new once again!

The poultice is always good to have on hand for that reason. The longer an oil stain sits, the tougher it is to get out. For the most part though, if it still looks like a wet stain and not a dry stain, the poultice should work.

I keep a couple of small jars in my kitchen cabinet for just such occasions. I've even had to tape the powder to the back splash behind my stove from some oil that splashed up
