Brian,

Nice photos! Knowing my luck, they would catch me pickin my nose or something stupid and show it on the big screen.

My wife and I (and two of our long-time friends) finally made it to St. Pete Beach exactly one year to the week after we had to cancel our big family trip (they went to Orlando, we went up north to take care of sick parents). We stayed at the Plaza Beach Resort who were kind enough to hold our deposit for one year and a better time we could not have had.
We ate, drank, swam, played shuffleboard (while drunk), rented a boat (also while drunk), visited beautiful Fort De Soto Beach (see dopey canon picture) and visited St. Johns Pass on our last night. Fabulous place, fabulous weather, fabulous time. Might even go back in July.

Looks like you had a great time. Sounds like a place who values their customers.

The place we stayed at (Plaza Beach Resort) is a small, older motel but the owners take great pride in their place and all of the rooms are remodeled. I couldn't believe it but they hired a top notch tile installer who installed mud walls around the tub. The tile joints oon the walls appeared to be 1/16th inch, and 1/8th on the floor and there was no lippage whatsoever. The property grounds were very well maintained. We found them through great reviews on Tripadviser and the reviews were dead on.
Yeah,. it's definitely a beautiful area to visit and we're actually bidding on an inexpensive rental condo that we looked at as an investment property but I don't think I would want to live in Florida on a full time basis. I live the peacefulness of where we live and we like being near the mountains. Here are some shots of us and our friends on the day we rented our boat and cruised to Shell Island.

Actually, we had great meals at every place we tried but the best was at Snappers on St. Pete Beach. All four of us agreed that the meal may have been the best we ever had. Raw tuna with blueberry sauce appetizer was off the charts delicious. Wish I had my camera when we were there.

Some more pics of St. Pete Beach. The car is a 2012 Dodge Charger that I paid $126 for (tax included) from Enterprise Rental at Orlando Airport for 5 days. You can get remarkable deals if you know how to play the game. The coral colored hotel is the Don CeSar Resort. The lighthouse picture was taken from Fort DeSoto Park.
