Diagonal Tile Entry Question

Getting ready to tile entry 5'x13' which opens onto carpeted living room 18'x13' through 10' arched opening. Would it look best to run points of full tiles right up to arch/carpet line, even if on other wall and door threshold I end up with small 4 or 5 inch triangles? Or should I split difference and have fuller tiles on both sides? Entry is about 1-1/4" out of square in 13'. Assume it would be best to run tiles parallel with arch/carpet.

Have you driy laid your tiles or measured them and laid a grid to make sure of your layout? If so it is still your call, 4 or 5 inch wouldn't be too bad to get a full tile at the transition line, that is what you are going to see when you walk in the door. Also not sure where your 1 1/4 difference is. If it falls on the 4 inch cut, it would show up more. If you split the difference with the tile in whichever direction it is, it won't show as much, but you sure want the transition area to be straight if you can.

I've seen good looking mosaic type patterns for changes from one type of covering (or different tile) to another using colors from both sides. If same color, colors that compliment the paint scheme would look good.
