spots on polished ceramic tile

Moved into newly built house and on cream colored polished porcelain tile on powder counter, there are faint light brown circles/spots. No etching can be felt. We haven't used any funky cleaners so I know it wasn't caused by this.

Could it be grout haze? I am not familiar with "polished tile" though so not sure how it could have seeped through as you can't feel anything on the surface? How can I get these off? They are faint but driving me crazy since brand new house. I read somewhere else that maybe a magic eraser would work? Thanks

Ray

Welcome to the forum, Ray.

Can you post a picture of the circles?

I think I've seen what you're describing, although I noticed them only when the floor was wet.

And I think I know what they're from, but I'll wait til I see what you have first.

It’s hard to take a pic but here is one. Faint brown circles that are darker than the cream polished tile. No feeling of etchings. Is polished tile still porous? It’s not wet. Thanks for your help kman

Ok, not at all what I was thinking. If you can't feel anything on the surface and the face of the tile seems intact, it may have come from the backside. Or it could be from the manufacturing process.

This was on the tile when you moved in, or developed over time?

Is it every tile, just a few, or just the one? Any leftover tile?

Hi Kevin, it is both on right and left side of the small counter.

I have only 1 extra piece- no spots on extra piece I am not sure if it was always there-- i noticed it two months into moving in. (The bathroom is mainly for my mom who lives with us 2 days a week and for guests and she initially cleaned it for couple months).....

She also uses a very whitening toothpaste, could it be that? no etching though... should i try a magic eraser?

I don't think it could hurt at this point. Just try a very small area, let us know how it goes.
