New Job Title Needed!

I've been in the tile industry for about 30 years. Most of them being on the supply side and lately as a licensed tile contractor.

I've recently decided to accept a job offer from a local flooring supplier. They want to start selling tile and tile setting materials. I have the experience on both sides of the industry to help them be successful.

They're leaving the title of this new position up to me and I want to make it exciting. To start out I'll be visiting their current customer base and introducing our new porcelain tile line and setting adhesives. I'll also be customer support for contractors on the job site.

Any suggestions on how I can spice up a job title? They're suggesting "Tile Specialist" but I'm thinking that's a bit basic.

Not to be harsh, Jeff, but you really should be considering what best serves your company's customers, rather than what might be a cool title. If your customers are needing a sales rep or a technical rep, or product support, that's what you should be called so the customers would know you're the guy they need to talk with.

You really don't want your customers to look at a list of contacts on your website and wonder, "What the hell is a ______(fill in cool title)?"

Keep it simple and self explanatory.

You are wise cx.

Because they are just starting fresh into the tile business I'll be their sales rep, technical rep, and product support. It was their idea to come up with an exciting title for all the hats I'll be wearing.

I guess I'm looking for a title that customers with any tile need could identify me as their guy.

Thanks for your criticism.

I'd go for Product Support, then. Doesn't matter what they decide to make then, eh?

Product Support. I like the sound of that. Thanks! I'll consider that one.

I like the idea of having "technical" or "technician" in there.
