Do I have the tiles directly against the stones or a gap. I think right against them, but want to double check.

If you are caulking the gap with silicone or similar, you want a gap so that the body of the sealant can more easily contort/distort from dissimilar movement of the adjoining two planes. If you butted then, there’s less caulk and that makes for substantially larger percentage of contortion/distortion for that thin bead of caulk.

Hi,

Finally finished my kids bathroom (except for cove molding). Thank you so much for all your help...could not have done it without your quick and good advice. I'm happy with everything except my caulk lines on the walls and tub are not great. That @#$% (swear word) silicone caulk is difficult to work with. I used tape at the floor and tub interface. Nice line. Should have used tape on walls. I may redo the walls (how difficult is to remove the slicone).

Now onto next bathroom

With all your newly developed skills and experience the next one will turn out even nicer than that one.

Silicone caulk is pretty miserable to remove completely, and you need to remove it completely because new silicone won't stick to old. If you, 'eh, the kids can live with it the way it is I'd be inclined to leave it.
