The fuller you fill the grout joints, the less likely trash will collect there. However, fuller lines mean wider lines. I'd consider stopping at the top of the vertical sides of the tile. This gives the floor a nice texture. You may have to give the housekeeping staff a small raise, though.

Make a sample board with a few scaps of your travertine. Seal about half of it. Grout the whole thing and see which you like better.

You can either remove the Kerdi or texture over it. I think you would be making the drywall guy's work a little harder if you left it in place. Score the Kerdi where you want it to end, then peel the mat off the wall. It should come off fairly easily if you pull it straight from the wall. The remaining thinset and fleece can be removed by rubbing with a brick or a tile rubbing stone. Since it will be textured, you won't have to make it perfectly smooth. Let the drywall guy earn his pay.

Thanks for the quick response. Do I still use the grout float or just the grout bag if I am going to the top of the sides?

Both of my projects are nearly complete thanks to the advice found on this forum but I have one final question. I have to install a floor vent through the terracotta floor tile to bring heat into the room. I have the 8 x 4 boot and decided on the placement. I have made sure the duct will not interfere with anything below the floor. My idea was to use my angle grinder to cut out the necessary tile then a jigsaw for the plywood. The floor boot has a half inch lip around it which I assume sits ontop of the tile but im not really sure. Any suggestions?

I just installed a travertine vessel sink and water tested. The water was literally dripping out of tiny holes everywhere. How do I fix this before wy wife has a stroke? I have stone sealer but will that be enough?

Return the sink. Pick something else or bring a large bucket of water when you select a new one.

What dolt thought making sinks out of a porous stone was a good idea?

Seriously, I would never put a stone sink somewhere it would get hard use. And that's coming from someone who bought one for my own master bath. It will be used for basic face washing and tooth brushing and that's it. We're putting in a grid drain so it will never be full of water for any time. And I plan a program of careful cleaning and sealing. Mr. Wendy really likes stone sinks so I'm totally willing to give it a try.

It is in a guest bath that will most likely be use for hand washing. Is regular travertine sealer good?

Not sure you'll convince anyone that such a thing exists, Jason.

Penetrating sealers for stone are not intended to make the stone waterproof. They do seal, for a while, against some water penetration, but their real purpose is to make the surface easier to clean and maintain.

I honestly wouldn't spend a minute trying to improve what I'm seeing as a clearly defective product. Not making a lotta sense to moi.

My opinion; worth price charged.

There are little tiny holes in the epoxy, I am trying to get this done by the 30th but for the price paid I will go by the fixture store and have them get me another. Thanks for the input. By the way CX, I am still waiting for the vent boot.
