ManLand Bathroom
Ok, now that I've finally managed to strong arm control of the only computer in my home away from my kids - and my DW, I've decided to start a thread of my bathroom project.
I'll start with a drawing of the floor plan - odd as it is.
I've already asked a handful of questions regarding this effort but, for the sake of my sanity (well, ok - I may have forgotten the answers) and for anyone who may be following along, I'll probably ask the same ones again.
Now, just need to find the other pichers I've taken.....

Next, since I tiled the hallway outside the bathroom first, and was using the same tile in the bathroom, I found myself in the position of having to tile INTO the bath. Being a newb I could not figure out how to do this in one shot so tiling the bathroom floor took me 3 separate sessions.
Lots of opertunities to stand back and admire one's own work.

Hi Dan. I just had to stop and take a look. The thread is titled nicely.
Looks like your makin progress. Are you going to have a lazybowl and a
fridge next to it with a clear view of the ball game on the big screen

LOL Jack.
The basement was dubed "ManLand" by Becky, since it contains most of the necessary elements: Big wattage stereo, lots of electronics, 43" plasma screen, lots of switches controlling the lights and fans, and a pool table. Fridge and LazyBoy didn't fit into the plans but I think I'll be able to manage. 
Missing is the "comfort station". Trying to rectify that now.

As much as I'd like to believe I'm in control of the decisions Mark, the real Boss would have some how convinced me that a urinal would not be in my best interest. The Boss is very kind, allowing me to think I run the show but we both know who's really in charge. One of those unspoken truths. 
I had to plead my case, and offer bribes, for the dark tile. Don't think I can support, mentally or financially, a urinal.
Besides, who am I to argue with a woman that bought me a bottle of red wine, called "Big Block Red" (you car guys know) for Christmas, and let me take a saucy picher of her with it? Gotta know which battles to take on.

Alrighty then, time to resurrect this project after ignoring it for too long and I could use some advice on where best to start.
I''m using 6X6 porcelains on all the walls. In the shower the tiles will go to the ceiling but around the rest of the room they start at the floor and end about 36" up the wall. Going for a clean look so there will not be a separate baseboad - just the wall tiles to the floor.
Any words of wisdom?

From the photos looks like the floors been done already? Should be a nice
lookin bathroom when youre all finished there dan. Good to see ya back
in here, keep us posted on your project and dont forget how much we

Yes Bob, that is the plan. I want that one long wall to be seemless. Only thing breaking it up will be the glass door.

What I was really interested in was where to start. Meaning should I start at the bottom of the wall in the shower or should I start at the bottom of the wall above the floor tile.
I was looking at it and it seems best to start at the bottom of the shower and then cut the tiles to fit next to the floor since the tiles are 6X6 and the height of the shower pan is less than 6". This would allow me to use full tiles for the first row in the shower and bridge the gap between where the backer board ends and the top of the shower pan.

Just a quick question and a progress report. Well, not exactly a report - just a picher. I think we all know how much we like pichers.
I need to set the starter row of tiles in the shower stall. Question is, how long should I let the thinset dry for the first row prior to installing the rest of the tiles on top of them?
