Crossville and MLT Training Event 2015
We are pleased to announce a new training event for John Bridge Forum professional members. Crossville and MLT will be hosting a joint session August 5-7.
This will be very hands-on using Laminam floor and wall panels....cutting, drilling, installing. A plant tour is available too. Upon completion of your training, Crossville will add you to their contractor installer database which is made available to their customers.
In addition, you will be trained in the use of MLT for these panels. Mick Volponi will be in attendance and will be your personal trainer!
Mapei will have a representative there as well, to assist with questions about thinset usage for these installs.
Crossville and MLT will be picking up the tab for two hotel nights, two breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner. You will be responsible for getting to Tennessee (most likely Nashville).
This will be a very small group, per the request of Crossville. Rumors have been flying that this was in the works and some spots are already filled....leaving only a handful available. If you would like to attend, PM me ASAP as I know there will be a waitlist for this event.
And I won't say what....but there will be some very nice swag associated with this training.

Its with great sorrow I will not be able to join the JB crew to this training event.
Our 6 week cross country RV excursion starts on the 8th and I'll have to squeeze working into my schedule somewhere....
I'll look for the pictures and updates on line whenever we have internet service.

With the Crossvile JB Forum Event coming up I thought I would get a pic of the Laminam panels at the Crossville booth. I will say thin tile installation and tools needed was the most talked about subject of this event so this training with Crossville is critcal. You should have this in your arsenal.
For those who are not up to speed, Laminam is the name of the thin tile Crossville produces. Every manufacturer offering it has their own name for it.

Jon, while still only in draft form at this point, the technical name of those products, in the not yet established ANSI A137.3 standard, will be Thin Porcelain Tile if it's one meter square or smaller and Thin Porcelain Tile Panel if larger than that.

CX, was nice getting to chat with you at Coverings as always. My first ANSI meeting was interesting. I only stayed for some of it as I am not a player, just an observer and very impressed.
Thanks for the correction, I would recommend any training you can get on Thin Porcelain Tile and panels....... do it. This new thin porcelain takes special tools and special handling and of course more substrate preparation. Like wall mud it isn't for everyone but you will lose some of the market if you don't get up to snuff. Crossville is leading the way in the industry in providing training for this application though others are providing training as well such as Stone Peak.

Most larger manufacturers -- Custom, Mapei, Laticrete, others -- are paying attention and including it in their respective training sessions, but Crossville and Mapei are focusing on the large panels and thin tiles. Yes, this stuff is not going away. I'm sort of glad I'm not installing anymore. Sort of.
