John,
A front is approaching as I type. Heavy rain is expected, high about 76, low tonight around 50.
I lived in Austin for 5 years (went to UT for 2 years). Can't remember it ever snowing there, though.

You clearly didn't attend UT during the winter of 83/84 then, Daniela.
In Boerne that year there was a snowfall of some 13 inches.
And I recall the interstate betwix Austin and San Antonio being closed for "blizzard conditions" at least once in the winter of 82/83.
And we had a little snow onna ground as recently as yesterday morning.

We were in Austin from '75 to'80.
Maybe I just can't remember that far back!
I do know that I was trying to overcome the culture shock, having just returned from 2 years of school in Switzerland. Maybe that's why the Austin winters didn't register significantly in my mind.

I (came to) love Austin - two-steppin' cowboys, cow patty contests, and Willy!
Hook 'em horns, and all that.
I'm just saying that after being in the Swiss Alps for 2 years, with required daily skiing - even in blizzard conditions - I found Austin to be kinda "tropical" by comparison.
Now, after 20something years in Florida, if it drops below 70, I get the fireplace going!

2.14 inches of RAIN in the last 36 hours and now the sun is shining. We sure needed that rain and could use many inches more to catch up.

Localized flooding here after torrential rains in the past two days. No property damage that I'm aware of except for a few cars lost to flash floods. No injuries although a local animal shelter had to be evacuated. Cold yesterday and today (but not by Muskie's standards.)
