Saltillo tile restoration

I need to restore a large area of Saltillo tile (Elon - Carrillo). In addition some of the tiles in the kitchen are chipped on the edges. Anyone with recommendations on a step by step process and products which work well?

Hi Michol, Welcome!

Can you post a picture?

There isn't too much you can do with the chipped corners short of refinish them or replace them.

Do you know what type of finish is applied to these tiles? Depending on the finish, we'll be able to guide you through the restoration process.

While homeowners can do this process, it can become complicated, and at times special equipment and chemicals are needed. This will sometimes include special training. Depending what you have, a professional may be needed.

I have emailed Elon without much success on finding out what sealer was originally used. The area to be restored is quite large and I would love to have a professional take care of it. However, this type of tile is not common in Maryland and I can not locate anyone who has the experience or the interest. Any suggestions? I will try to get an adequate picture together; too dark right now.
