Tub/Shower Surround Questions: Preformed Niche, Deco Tile, Corner Caulk or Grout

I'm tiling a tub/shower surround that is Kerdi on Hardibacker. I have two preformed niches can't remember the manufacturer, (Fitch I think, Model PF-301). They are foam treated with liquid waterproof membrane. I put the Kerdi over the entire face right up to the corner where they turn into the wall (pic attached). The tile vendor and the literature said they were good to tile as is. Is anything else necessary here?

I also have some deco tile with a mesh on the back that feels like some kind of sticky paper. Not sure what it is. It seems like for a shower it might be wise to scrape that off and place the pieces by hand. Any thoughts?

I am using Bostik, Tru Color grout on this job. It is my understanding that this grout is slightly flexible, but not compressible. I'm running about 50/50 on advice between caulking the corners of my shower and using this grout. None of these walls are outside walls. I did miter and grout the corners with this on my vanity back splash. No problems after eight months and through the seasonal temperature change we get here. However, I would like to know any recommendations before doing this in the shower?

Thanks to all who maintain and contribute here.

Hi, Bill.

The niches are ready for tile.

Grout flexibility is not something you can see. The Tru-color is fine.

I don't caulk shower interiors. What I do (or fail to do) is contrary to industry standards. It's your choice.

Hello John,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll grout the corners - looks better.

Great website,

Grouted Corners

Just a quick update. I did grout the corners of my shower (walls & ceiling) with the Bostik Tru Color grout. We have been through two winter/summer cycles now and no cracks. Again, this bathroom is in the center of my home and not on an exterior wall, so perhaps movement is minimal. Really like the Tru Color grout. Thanks again to all who maintain & contribute here.
