Hi. I'm Jeff:)
Hello everyone.
I read through the section about being new to the forum and saw the suggestion to introduce myself at the Professional's Hangout. So here I am!
I have been in the construction industry since 1999, when I worked as a grunt for a contractor as a summer job while in college. It was love at first sight. I finished school and went into construction full time as a self-employed contractor. Here I am, almost 13 years later, still loving what I do (most days)!
I work on all aspects of residential jobs - plumbing, electric, carpentry, etc. I am not afraid to try new things. I don't enjoy drywall work or painting but have learned to tolerate both of them I have done a limited amount of tile work over the years.
I went to the first part of the Schluter Innovation workshop this past March and that changed everything for me. I was inspired and empowered knowing there was a solid system that didn't have too steep of a learning curve.
I've since done a complete tile shower from start to finish and was pleased with the results. I'm getting a little faster and better every time. The funny thing is that the seminar was a week after I finished another tile shower and saw everything I should have done differently!
I appreciate everyone who uses their time to offer professional advice to folks trying to do a good job. You have already helped me. I am not an expert in the tile world, but I do have decent working knowledge of other areas. Hopefully I can be an asset to this forum. Thank you for the professional and friendly culture here.

I got into the trades in the 70's. ALBOE. In the late 70's decided to concentrate on one trade, cabinets and millwork. I still do tile on my own house but make better money as a licensed GC when I let out other trades who are pros at what they do on contract jobs.
Specializing in one trade separates you from the crowd rather than being a jack of all trades, handyman type.
