Corner shelf

I have 2 corner soap shelves to install in a bath tub tile surround application. Tiles are 6", have Kerdi on the walls and the manufacturer of the shelves states that an adhesive caulk should be used to attach them to the wall then tile them in. These things weigh about 3 lbs each. Can I just rely on the thinset and adjacent tiles to hold them in place as I have done before? (plus lots of tape) There are no holes in the backs of these to allow thinset to ooze in.
Thanks, Mike

Usually Kerdi fix + loads of tape will work but since I am cheap thrifty, we use PL Premium + loads of tape to hold it in place until the other tiles and grout comes along.

If your setting your tile you can set the corner shelf as you go with thinset
on the top of a row of tile. Then install the row above it to lock it in.
Thinset is fine.

I tiled up the walls to the point of the first shelf and set it in place as you all indicated. It actually stayed there while I measured for the notches in the next course above. Was pleasantly surprised; anxiety passed. Applied thinset, set shelf and support stick to top of tub and continued tiling. Got to the level of the second and last shelf and repeated the procedure. Turned out good. Thanks again.
Mike

By the way, I spent two 5 hour days doing this, (semi-retired ). I tiled up to the level of the second shelf on the first day, then set the second shelf and rest of the tile on the second day using a support stick to the first shelf which had set.
