Atlanta?
Anybody in the Atlanta area interested in a commercial job by GSU? It's 2300 feet and needs to start this week.

Portland grout, all materials at site, the job will take an experienced journeyman and 1 helper about 6 days. The pay on the job is $8450. I do alot of these restaurants. My schedule is jammed up so I want to hand this one to a good guy. You would be contracting direct with the GC and I would step aside, not enough money for a middle man.

6 days for a guy and his helper? It better be perfect conditions AND new construction with nothing in the way...me thinks two weeks is more realistic..just saying

Not only that but the payoff seems a bit low to me. If it was just a straight lay of 2300 sq ft of floor I could maybe see that price working but walls, bricks, 18's, quarry, short notice-seems a little shy.

Good point..thats a flat 3.67 a foot... I know the commercial work these days is cut throat and quality is second to speed but still thats alot of work and the 0nly way your going to do it in 6 days is with two whole crews..thus half the money...by the time you deduct labor and expenses and another crew you might end up with 2-3000 for the week and be exhausted.
My experience when they say it can be done in 6 days..they actually mean that it HAS to be done in six days...and on the 3rd day the plumbers are in your way the massive kitchen stainless counters are being delivered, multiple trades all over the place ..because they were also told "6 days".
Lets not forget the black grout and the wavy floor.
I can make the same money doing one shower at a comfortable pace.
These days I don't drink the kool-aid when it comes to big jobs..many times its just like chasing a carrot. By the time you get paid your bills and expenses take all your profits anyways
or maybe that just my experience....

Jim hit that one on the head.
that area is awful to work in. you will pay to park, have to walk your tools in be swarmed by panhandelers, and wonder how your tools grew legs . all with the joys of working in a comercial job where every time you turn around someone has walked on your fresh tile.
oh yea..... I SET MY RATES!!!!!

ok
Lets not jump to conclusions. Many times if a guy doesn't have much commercial experience, they think things are way out of line. I do these stores days in and days out, some in 4 days and some in 7. There are variables, tell me a job that doesn't have them. Last year I tiled nearly 40 locations. All materials are always onsite, including prep materials. All bids are less prep but they pay prep if needed. You are free to bid at will, I was simply offering a job that I was awarded but have yet to contract. No worries if you cant do it for my price, I have done enough that they are simple. Over 1,000 feet of full 4x4 tiles on the wall, that is fast work. 600 feet of quarry should be 1 day for most. Im only speculating but please refrain your attempts to ridicule me.
