grout sealer on top of grout colorant?

hi everybody. I have a question and up until now i can't find an answer. My cousin had new tiles installed in his basement (in bathroom and another room). After the installer was done , the grout color was grey-silver instead of the original brown like chocolate color. We figured out that the installer used too much water during cleaning. So we got a grout cleaner, we cleaned the grout very good but that didnt really solve the problem. Our next step was to get a grout colorant (nice brown color) which we already applied on the grout lines and i have to say it did work very good, the result is fantastic. But here comes the question. Should i apply a sealer on the top of the grout colorant without damaging the color? Is it safe? If yes what kind? Water based, solvent based, penetrating? All the products (grout, grout cleaner, grout colorant ) are made by PROFIX which is a good manuf company. I was told at first that the colorant i got which is the PX90 would work as a sealer too. But after reading the instructions on the bottle i didn't find this anywhere. I asked the company (PROFIX) and i was told that i was right, the colorant didnt contain any sealer and i should apply some after i finish coloring the grout. But then when i phoned again a few days later to ask what kind of sealer i can get and be compatible with the colorant, another guy told me that he doesnt think i have to use sealer on the top of the colorant, or even if i want too, he didnt know if it is safe.
any help? sorry if my thread is tiring

Hi Geomat, welcome! If you used colorant most likely it won't accept sealer.

thanks for the welcoming and the reply as well muskymike. In that case ,since i can't use a sealer, how can i prevent all the dirt from going and getting stuck in the grout joints? Or how can i prevent the grout from cracking ? What i used was a thin coat of the colorant, evenly applied and it was nicely absorbed by the grout. I dont know why all this mess with the manuf company.

Geomat,

In the description of that product is says it's epoxy based and ....Profix seals grout protecting from moisture and stains. Never used this but must be similar to AquaMix colorant which is also epoxy based and therefore requires no sealer. Your grout will be much easier to maintain now than it would have been the other way.
