Cx-- just making sure you realize I said that in jest. I know damn well you'd hurt yourself before you'd let any harm come to those owls.
As for federal money spent on it, don't get me started.

Clinton mandatory gun buy-back program
Clinton suggests she'd consider mandatory gun buy-backs, sparking fears of ‘confiscation’
Here we go, everyone has been saying this for years about the Dems agenda. They have no problem rounding up hundreds of millions of guns but there is no way to round up a few million illegal immigrants, RIGHT?
Quote:
Hillary Clinton said Friday that mandatory gun buy-back programs like ones in Australia are “worth looking into,” sparking criticism that the Democratic presidential front-runner would, if elected, impose gun-confiscation efforts.
Clinton made the comments during a campaign stop in Keene, N.H., when an attendee asked about Australia’s 1996 and 2003 buy-back programs that collected roughly 700,000 banned semi-automatic rifles and other firearms.
“I think it would be worth considering doing it on the national level, if that could be arranged,” Clinton responded.
“This validates what the NRA has said all along,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action. “The real goal of gun control supporters is gun confiscation.”

Bit of a misnomer here, as I see it. How can they call it a "Buy Back" if they never owned it in the first place?

To own a gun is a human right, but must comply with laws of man.

Sorry, but it's the other way around. Because it's a human right, the laws must comply with IT.

It may be a cultural (American) right, but it might be a bit of stretch to call it a human (universal) right.

Not at all. One mistake alot of people tend to make is to think that the 2nd Amendment gives us the right to keep and bear arms to protect ourselves. That's not true. If it gave us that right, then that right could be taken away. What the 2nd Amendment does is recognize a PRE-EXISTING human right. And although not many other governments recognize it, it IS universal.

I'll preface with the assumption that it's highly unlikely that anyone's mind is going to be changed and none of the worlds problems are going to be solved in the JBF mudbox. That said, I do enjoy a bit of debate so....

How can there be a "pre-existing" human right to something that hasn't existed for the vast majority of human history?

That seems like a bit of a contradiction.
Is it OK if I want to build and carry a suitcase nuke?

Your welcome Laz. One thing I found with the site, but it took me 2 years to realize, was that not only are there articles, but below each are comment sections which are sometimes as good as the article.
And don’t just find daily news there, use the directory to find reviews, tests etc. learn a lot there.

I don't know about a human right to guns, but I do know something about the Constitution and how it was ratified. The ratifiers insisted on a right to "keep and bear arms," which at the time included guns.
I think Bill means that humans have a basic "inalienable" right to defend themselves. Guns are one way of doing that.
Note: We have a rule against "political" threads on this site. So far the moderators have seen fit to let this one slide because it hasn't yet become politically contentious. Should that happen, this baby is history (again).

Well whether it’s a human right or not I’m sure glad it’s the right of every American. Coming from Ireland where you can’t have most firearms , one of the first things I did here was to run to a gun store and buy and buy and buy again lol. Bill knows my love for firearms.
Thank you for the 2nd Amendment
