Protect outdoor furniture (rattan)

I have used wax on my outdoor furniture to protect the metal parts, but I was wondering if there is a way (besides keeping it covered all the time), to protect the rattan parts from getting brittle and wearing out. Outdoor furniture is expensive so I would like to keep it as long as I can. This is NOT wood rattan - instead it is the polyethylene wicker.

I would recommend trying Aerospace 303. It is highly popular in the marine community. There’s lots of uses for the stuff from plastic to rubber to fiberglass and more. It’s not cheap. But you get good value for what you pay, as it works properly. Most every marine store carries it. Otherwise, you can find it online for a lessor price.
