Seaming Schluter Trims

Homeowner bought 8' schluter white pvc quarter round *cough* Rondec trim with 9' ceilings, and wanted to throw the question out how ya'll seam it up nicely? Especially with opposing grout color. Thinking hot glue two together then install to keep them as tight as possible.

Can you return the 8’ and get a 10’ piece?

I’ve never had much luck getting a good seam. It always seems too visible to me.

Schluter charges a RIDICULOUS surcharge for ordering the 10 foot sticks. $220 I think.

Hasn’t been my experience. Recently ordered two 10’ of brushed antique bronze trim. Came to under $60 total.

That's great. But from the 2019 price list book:

"Certain items with oversized shipping dimensions are not eligible for express shipping. Additionally, certain items (such as 10' profiles) are not eligible for parcel shipping and are subject to a $200 charge unless combined with an order exceeding a $5,000 retail value."

Probably depends on who processes your order.

I think they make inside couplers for the quarter round style, I’ve never used them though. Last time I had to I put the seam low and it wasn’t noticeable unless you knew to look for it. Sucks your client knows to look for one now though.

Bitch loudly to your Schluter distributor to start stocking 10' lengths. Never understood why Schluter waited so long to make longer lengths.

Probably won't be returning, but I'll make a point to specify the 10' sticks next time if the cost is reasonable.

I figured mending them first and not on-the-fly as I'm installing them would help keep them tight. Another option would be for me to cut them to the tile size like bullnose and have the grout joint carry through. Hmm....
