I don’t understand how to do sealed slip joints in steamer corners

I get the concept along the straight runs of changes of plane. Leave a gap between backer boards, tuck some excess topical sheet membrane into the gap.

But how are inside corners handled? There isn’t enough leeway in the preformed corner pieces without causing it to flare out or pucker up.

I’ve seen the diagram by Noble but they leave out that corner detail.

And are sealed slip joints needed at vertical corners, plus where walls meet ceiling, plus where walls meet shower pan? So I need to hold the board above shower mud bed?

Lou, that's why a lot of installers elect to make their own inside corners. It's easy enough to do with a 4" square piece of Kerdi band. Cut from the middle of one side to the middle of the square, and overlap the two pieces.

So there will be a small hole at the center, which probably wouldn't let any water through if you overlap the pieces enough. But just to be safe, I'd put a dab of silicone in that corner.

But I don't know of any reason that you couldn't bury the wall board in the mud floor, as long as the manufacturer of the board condones it.

Also, I referred to Kerdi band, but if you're using a different product the same idea applies.
