Ted Kennedy died

So, yet another one graduates from life! Teddy Kennedy lost his battle with Cancer Tuesday. Whether you loved em or hated em...there was quite a legacy there!!

A few years shy of the "Greatest Generation" but certainly one of the greatest of his generation, Chappaquidick notwithstanding. I have to wonder if his zeal would have been as great had he not made that particular blunder?
So who gets to sell his seat?

Didn't care for the man much, but his involvement in healthcare legislation kept me employed for several years at federal and state gov't levels.

Cheers,

I am sometimes amazed at the response from folks who claim at times to be "Christians." Judge ye not, lest ye be judged.

RIP Senator Kennedy. You will be missed! His advocacy for those "without a voice" will live on. NPR was interviewing a woman who had lost her husband in the 9/11 attack. Many people had reached out right after that time, but she noted that Senator Ted Kennedy stayed in contact with her family, inviting them to go sailing two years later after everyone else had "forgotten them!"

So, Teddy gets a pass for killing Mary Jo LG?

Teddy's political career should have ended after Chappaquiddick, if he were a republican, it would have, and rightly so.

That Bible quote is one of the most misused. The Bible absoutely compels us to shine a light on evil, and injustiuce, and, where appropriate, mete out punishment here on Earth. So please don't gimme that BS.

I guess Ted Kennedy was one of those people that you either hated or loved no in between. There are a lot of people that loved him here in Massachusetts.

No doubt about that, Sal. But, I wish you would have elected him as governor or king of Massachusetts for the last 47 years instead of Senator.

It's easy to appear to be generous with other peoples' money.

I can think of no greater indictment of our current form of government than that man's 47 year residency in the Senate.

Will a lifetime of public service toward the greater good make up for a terrible mistake that caused another her life? Not my call.

Not yours either

and unless the Dems figure out a way to cheat Mass law (don't count them out) the Chosen One just lost his filibuster-proof Senate until at least next January. That's not a celebration but a statement of fact.

But you gotta love the irony. Until '04 the Mass Guv had the job of appointing a replacement in a case like this. So under the old law Teddy's replacement could be appointed and in place when the Senate reconvenes. That's pretty much what happens in the other states. But in '04 Teddy was afraid Romney might get to replace Kerry (if he beat Bush) with a - gasp!! - Republican! So Teddy pushes the legislature to change Mass law to require a special election. Kerry lost, but the law passed and is still in place.

What's that thing about reaping what you sow?
