They reused the tub drain, kinda does look like a gas cap. They also forgot about the shower pan, window ledge was back pitched a 1/2 inch, nailed 1/2 inch wonder board over drywall with 1/4 nails 16 inches apart. I could go on and on, makes me sick this was someone I knew that thought I would be to expensive for them. Actually the handyman special was $2600 labor for a tub to shower conversion, not to far off a license pro's price.
So she had to rebuy the tile at $1000 again and have me redo it right costing close to $7500 total for something that should of been under 4000 grand from the start. smh

That's plenty of RG !

Drywall mud makes an excellent tile substrate.

No your walls don't need to be square with the tub.

Dear Mr. Customer,

I will have to rip out the pan liner your plumber installed so horribly
wrong and do a full HydroBan shower to waterproof it correctly.

Thank you, Ceramictec

I dunno, Brian, that looks a lot better than many of the shower photos we see from your part of the country. Might be a little tough to tile part of it, but at least they installed a pan liner, eh? Sorta.

The previous tenant installed this backsplash in what became my apartment. The tiles in the bottom photo didn't show much back when I had an old 36" range with storage for pots and pans. Now I have a 30" range and I'm considering widening the wall to the right of the range rather than installing new cabinets. I read that grout from late 60s era tile can contain asbestos so I'm considering getting it tested before removing it but I also read that can be expensive. But I'm not up to that project yet.

Got a leak ? Install a patch and hold it in place with rubber ceement in a few places.

Oh, that leak was from the 4 holes we put in the liner when we installed the metal framed bench in your steam shower ????

We don't need no steenkin curb corners !!
