Gee wiz, all the money spent on the chair, and they couldn't get the stinkin $20 seat gold plated or at the very least, a faux paint job to match the rest of the throne!

Watching "Bath Crashers" They installed BB in shower, no moisture barrier, did not tape BB joints.

Ho's watch this and there will be more future work for us.

to fill the tub, there is a filler pipe in the ceiling with a 1/2" hole that pours water into the tub. I can see someone standing under it and splattering water all over the bathroom. what dumb idea. No water proffing any where near the tub.

Isn't that the show where these guys walk up to some poor dimwit in the home center and tell them they will get a free bathroom makeover?
Guess they got what they paid for!

In defense of Bath Crashers the cement board manufacturers don't exactly make things clear. For instance, Durock and Permabase say that you aren't required to install a moisture barrier, even though the TCNA says it's required.

Wonderboard, on the same technical data sheet says this:
Quote:
Patented open mesh edges allow tapeless installation and provides
outstanding edge bond strength.
while in the installation instructions for both walls and floors it says this:
Quote:
On all joints and
corners, prefill the gap with bonding material; then embed 2" (5 cm)
mesh tape and smooth material over the joint and corner.
http://www.custombuildingproducts.com/TDS/TDS-106.pdf

Looks to be clear as mud?

Lot of problems in the technical writing part of those companies, Jim. Most of it, as I see it, stems from the publications being under the control of the Marketing department rather than the Technical department.

Definitely makes it more difficult for us to tell our visitors to read and follow manufacturer's instructions.

Just watched them install what looked like 4 x 20" tile on a wall. Just slapped some thinset in the middle of the tile and stuck it to the wall. said " see , that's all there is too it."

It is easy as long as you lay a 3/8" grout joint

Is there an address I can send them my thank you note/lawsuit? Am I a lawyer? No, but I can download some forms from the internet, I'm sure that's all there is to it.

I had some real nice folks ask me to check out a shower that their handyman had started. They started to worry when he used thinset to mud up the shower floor. Today I tore out the thinset floor and noticed he didn't even have any bolts in the clamping drain, bolts were gone. And, the pan wasn't folded up over the curb, just up to the top of the curb and the opposite wall the liner only went up the wall 1 inch. The 1 inch was then filled with staples. The seat was built with 2x4s and CBU on top of the pan liner. I'm still shaking my head over this. This pic shows the pan liner coming up the wall 1 inch.

Send him to Texas, so we'll have more showers to repair.

I'm wondering why he even put a pan liner in, at 1" above the floor it wasn't doing much good.

Good thing the owners realized something was wrong and stopped it before he finished.

I'm sure there's more, American exceptionalism is only bested by Texas exceptionalism.
