I've run in to a couple of guys that claim to have been trained in different European countries and they brag about it like it's a high honor. But I'm sure it's like anything else where there's guys that are good and guys that aren't.

Me and a friend of mine still joke about this guy that was "tlained in Gleece" What a joker this guy was! His first week of work he was showing up at 10am and working on his laptop while he set tile.

Anybody planning on going camping? I have a tent you can use.

Top view, then side view after removing a few tiles.

Can this thread be moved back to the professionals hangout? This mudbox is one weird neighborhood.

I agree. I liked it in the hangout. It's only the pros that contribute to it anyway.

This thread shows what can happen if you not follow TCNA guidelines and the manufacturers instructions.

One of the more educational threads in my humble opinion.

all I can say is I made this thread to show people (tile contractors, homeowners, etc.)
what not to do and what you could possibly get if you dont do your research on proper installation methods and a quality tile contractor with layout and installation skills.

its up to the Mods to stick it where ever they want

My vote is that it belongs in the Pro's hangout, but I don't feel so strongly about it as to pitch a fit. Seems to me the mud box is for random things, where this is directly tile related.

It belongs in the pros hangout. It started out there, and never should've been moved. Alot of great examples of what NOT to do, and WHY. You think the homeowners stuck to the shallow end? Not quite as many come over here to educate themselves.

Pro's Hangout: Tech talk on tile, stone, concrete and other building trades. Everyone is welcome.

We've certainly addressed the technical side of the numerous pics related to tile, stone, and other building trades. Some of the comments are just "talk", but many of them are comments relating to the methods that were used, and what methods should have been used.

While this thread is entertaining, it is also educational for pro's and DIY'ers alike. Since the forum is open to everyone, newbies can see pictures and comments regarding what is unacceptable, as well as comments about what should have been done. And since the installer himself is not likely to comment on the photos of his work, the comments from the pros here are integral to the thread.

Most of the poor work in the pics jump out at you like gangbusters, but occasionally there are things that have to be pointed out, particularly for the less experienced setters or DIY'ers that are here. I think this helps them to learn what to watch for when critiquing another's work. They may also learn what to ask of a potential tile contractor during their screening process.

Mud Box: A place for wayward tile setters (and wayward anybodies) to talk about -- you guessed it -- anything.

The mud box seems to be a forum for things that really don't fit into the construction trades at all. The "worst pics" thread may not fit perfectly in either the mud box or pro's hangout, but if I had to choose between the two, I think it fits the description of the pro's hangout better.

I vote to keep it in the "Deep End" as it offers continuous humour for us folks in the trade. Any "Newbies" that happen on this are similarly amused....
