nice one John, here is one we ripped out on Monday.
only 10 year old home and the knee wall was totally rotted into the side of the cabinets.
the drywall with tile set with mastic was totally wet and fell apart, the tile was holding it together with the black mold.
and by the last picture you can see there was no type of waterproofing on the shower floor. fine finger roots from a nearby tree were growing up where the pipe comes out of the ground.

LG enV touch. Sometimes if you get the settings right it does very well.

Wanna see a close up of mold growing on caulk?

Sure, why not.

I'm impressed with the photo quality. The iphone 4 supposedly takes good pictures. I don't have one though. I have the 3gs. Sometimes my hands shake too much or something. I just blame it on the ground shaking.

Its even better full size, but........

Shower floor wall transition, I tiled it about 6 years ago, has been a problem for 5 years, I heard about it about 2 months ago. Didn't know then the Tec latex was a no-no, in fact it may have still been approved back then. Anyway, I grouted it.

unreal !

I was called earlier today by a lady that was upset with the installer (handyman) she hired to tile her living room.

she is basically telling him not to return. there was every type of problem on this job you could imaging.
the installer had the tile packed up to 1" with thinset and is sunk and was wavy all over the place. I was in the Wesley Chapel, Florida area today and thought I would stop by to see if we could help her out and fit her into our installation schedule. she is so upset since he came recommended.

enjoy the pics !

I named this one...."burial cross on top of thinset hill"

Good use of the spacers on Thinset Hill, surprised you found any as his grout lines sure don't look like he was using them.

Aside from the the waves and such, but 1 inch of thinset?... Probably not even a qaulity one.... might even break bond as it shrinks and cures.

Thinset crack suppression, GENIUS!!!!.. why didn't I think of that and save so much money over using all the expensive correct materials.

Forget Michael Byrne, someday you really need to publish a book with all the stuff you guys see in Florida, along with the fixes.....before and then after done right by real tradesmen.
