I don't know scrap price is your area, but I just scrapped a bunch of metal. I got $3.03/lb. for bright shiny wire. The other stuff was two something. A small collection I had in my garage ended up being $456.00.

Copper prices are around $4.05 a pound right now. What the scrap yard gives you will be less, but def worth taking it in!

No picture just a story. You'll be able to picture it though. Son and wife bought a house recently from a couple who are both lawyers (red flag #1). The lawyers had bought it as a foreclosure (red flag #2). This couple had done some lipstick and mascara things, as Mike Holmes would say, without the skills to do even that (red flag #3). Unfortunately my son wasn't able to have me scrutinize the house before he made an offer.
To the point of the story: Lawyer homeowner dolled-up a bathroom by removing the vanity, tiling the floor and putting in a free-standing vanity. From fifty feet down the hall it looked acceptable. Closer scrutiny however found a rough tile job installed without the removal of the toilet. My son demo'd the floor to find our lawyer DIYer had installed tile right over the linoleum and the exposed area of the subfloor left by the removal of the vanity.
Our lawyer couple moved across the country to the east coast with my son finding one undisclosed problem after another in this house.

Ooooh, Oooooh, I got a story with no pics. Went to look at a repair job, loose tile by faucets in a shower. Pink tub, Pink Tile. Everything was in good shape except that area. Older lady, didn't want to spend money doing it over(the usual) Told her I could replace the bottom portion of that wall, gave her a price, she liked it, I was in the process of trying to find something to match. She calls me back and says " remember I told you I was getting other estimates " No, I don't remember that " well I had another guy who was supposed to come, but he got arrested, not sure what for. But anyway, he got out, so I'm gonna go with him" Oh ok, good luck, bye. She will get exactly what she deserves! If I'm lucky, she'll call back when it fails and then I can get some pics, Ha, Ha. I told my wife, that's it! No more repair work! If they call for it, tell them No, we don't do that. Nothing but a waste of time. I just can't get the mentality of " Oh yea, I wanna hire that guy who just got outta jail "

So I went to look at a repair job for an older lady. She only needed some pink tiles replaced so I quoted her something cheap... You know a Lil bit a drywall and some mastic will do the trick. She said I got the job and gave me $50 deposit! Woo whoo! Off to the bar I went. Was doin shot after shot and got purdy drunk! Then I got into a fight with some guy that was insulting my mother. Cops came and arrested me!
Couldn't make bail so I missed work for a few days. Finally got out, and off to work I go!
Pink tile and mastic here I come

I had this one last year. The lady fired the first and second tile setters on this shower remodel. They had no plan when starting this job. Pretty easy job if they would have thought it out a little. Anyway after removing the subway tiles where they were adding the deco band they didn't remove the old thin-set and next installed the emperador dark using liquid nails. Yes it was all over the place! There were many many stupid things I fixed on this job but in the end everything looked good. Also the lady asked me to install a travertine foyer.

found in the dumpster at a recent job, it had already been taken out, though not due to failure. Go figure...
1/2" cbu nailed to the floor w/ no thinset. Made the removal easier, of course.
1/4" x 1/4" trowel and then spot set marble... on a floor.

IF youre going to spot set the marble............. why comb on the thinset? What a waste.
