curbless shower

We are trying to install a curbless shower on our second floor - we found we have a w truss style system - how do we lower the shower area floor in order to build up to the regular height and have all the floor one level? we are installing an aco trench drain so we know we need to slop the shower "area" 1/4" per foot.

You cannot modify trusses. Trusses carry the load in the top and bottom chords, and if you cut either one, you destroy the truss.

You can get trusses with a section recessed like you want. These simply have extra material on the top chord where the recess isn't. These trusses are custom fabricated and would be build into the house as it was being built.

Sorry, but I wish there was an easy answer for you.

thank you for your quick reply - at this point in the constuction we have the sub-floor cut out in the shower area - what the remodeling guy wants to do is install durock in the shower area - put another layer of plywood on the rest of the bathroom floor - then durarock on top of that - then he wil start tiling and when he getws to the shower area, he will start his sloping to the drain which we be on the plumbing wall. Is this the right way to do it?

There are loads of different systems about to save using the curb method, giving that more open feel to a shower area..
