definitely no need for trowel and error on that backsplash.
Here's a couple more of our job this week. Tomorrow, rapid set the cuts and hopefully finish grouting.

Amos,
We also use old worn out grout floats to beat in 1"x1" -> 4"x4" ..it's really the only way to be productive and get them embedded. We do comb our thinset in one direction though even using this beat in technique.
How do you do it, Amos? :P

I comb the thinset in one direction give the sheet a little side to side movement and beat
Beat in with A float ...getting the thinset combed in one direction is still important even on
small tiles. IMO

Looks good Brian. I was hoping to see you in West Palm Beach last week.
Jessie, looks like yours is coming along good. Can't wait to see the finished pics.

Looking good everyone.
Here's a small backsplash with some Artistic Tile Vintage Glass sticks.
To prep this I used 1/2" kerdi-board on the right and left side and had to use 1/4" fiber board in the middle behind the sink. There was a time I would have floated this out but now it's much easier and faster with the boards.

John, Three different houses. The last one shown the stairs were made by a roller coaster company and then they lowered them in through the roof with a large crane.
It's also the house with 6 bathrooms all done out 12"x24" glass I was talking to you about in Las Vegas at Coverings a few years back. So far so good with no cracks.

A few more. I used Star Quartz black grout on the glass stripe and had no mess at all.
