Cool floor, Paul.

I did a small bathroom remodel in Fort Collins, CO. this week where the homeowners gutted everything but the custom shower. This is 16" x 16" traverine set on the floor & wanes cotting. Not much in the way of custom work on this one, but these are the jobs that pay the bills. Walked in on Tues. and left finished today.

Yes, John. Its Greenskin and the radiant heat wire is fastened with hot glue. I used it as a thermal break.

Here is my work in progress, since end of October. Was originally a basket weave mosaic. Laid about 25% of the floor and was told to stop. She did not like the stone. The mosaic was removed and the other 150 sq ft was trucked off to the builder's office. She ordered 18x18 stone, same as the shower. It arrived and I laid it out. Too white she said. So, packed up and returned to the vendor. Picked up 16x16 on Monday. Took it to the job and let her look at it. Was told to start. So Tuesday we cut the stone into 8x16, applied factory edging to the cut side and started laying out the border. Wednesday, we finished laying out the border around the room. Replaced the 7 tiles she marked as no good. Before we left, laid out all of the tiles for her to look and and give final approval. Thursday, she marked about 15 tiles that were no good. We used them under the tub and vanity. Installed the border and laid all of the full tiles. Went in yesterday morning and found new stickies on the floor. She tore down the barricades and walked on the floor to mark tiles no good that were marked ok the day before. After chat with builder, we used up the rest of the ok tile and he ordered more tile. Now we are in a holding pattern. Here is were we are now...

Greg, I would not work for someone like that.
unless she is paying you for each rip out in time and you have no
other projects going on. that would get severely on my nerves.

Did 2000 ft of travertine for a gal like that once. She was a designer and it was her show home. Kind of a junk grade of stone too. She would pick the placement of each and every piece. I'd pull up a tile to level, sometimes they'd break and she would flip out. Me and the guy I worked for at the time finally walked off because we had to start billing her hourly and she wanted a fixed price...

We did a bathroom vanity full wall splash for a lady in Oregon. Her hubby owned one of the biggest car dealerships in the area. Any way she paid us to set it 3 different times, and demo it 2 times. When she asked me to take down my work the third time I politely said no. Yeah I got paid good for it, but it is very frustrating to take down your work just because the home owner doesn't like the tile THEY picked. I understood it the first time, and was a little irritated the 2nd time, but had had enough the third time.

This is for a builder I have been doing work with for about 5 years. At each phase of change, I submit to him a bill for all workouts de scope of orginal contract. He has paid each and everyone to date.I have been working on and off in this bathroom since middle of October. My other projects during this time frame have been for this builder. He wants to get this bath done as much as I do.
