I cut my own hair and have for many moons.
A #2 guard once every couple of weeks. The bald spot looks better with short hair.
My hair is not turning gray, it's turning loose. 
Back to tile.....I can scribe with the best of them but on cabinet trim I whip out the hand jamb saw. Too easy not to.
