I mesh tape, use fabric over them or both.

Nice work.
I just wonder how taping of the drywall is done after tiles are grouted.

Sweet floor Matt, I like the tight grout joint on that big tile, nice and flat.

Its porelain faux slate tile and we use control lines to square all the rooms, hallways, etc. as well as use spacers as we set.
Miachel- There is no drywall going in after the grouting. Log Cabin.

That's what we do too. I've never grid a floor before but a lot of guys on here swear by it.

I thought that HydroBan didn't need any fabric ? If you using fabric then why spend money on the HydroBan. Even if the cement board manufactures say you need it. Just more build up just use the HydroBarrier then.

build up isn't a problem when your doing 12x12 or larger. only with smaller tile like glass, etc.

Before Hydroban I always fill the joints in the cbu with thinset and use the cbu mesh tape. After I do it I go over it with damp sponge so it is very little buildup.
HydroBan doesn't require the Laticrete fabric but you still have to follow the cbu installation instruction.
Job looks good Matt. And Laz I like the tile you used on the backsplash.

Thanks, Issac. Funny thing is that I used to space that tumbled marble. Now, I simply stack it....and cheat with tilespikes to keep the lines straight. I put 1/8" spacers on the countertop. Amazing that I STILL end up with a generous grout joint..........but, much faster and looks good.
(Oh, and while I know you recognize it...it's Scabas marble"
