Brian-what's with the square hole in the floor and 2"(?) pvc? Toilet?
Steve Maloney- no worries with those curb 2xs twisting? I've always been afraid to run dimensional in a curb that long.

cut everything back to the main that goes to the septic  everything was paper thin the shower p trap had been leaking for quite some time so the cast has been in continually wet dirt for awhile i broke off the p trap with a simple twist of the wrist joined to abs with a big rubber coupling

Matt, no, never had a problem with 2x4s, now i would never do the same in a basement.

Brian, I had a feeling some-one would mention that.
It's a bit wetter than I normally would like, ( new helper ) but it actually isn't that wet.
I had just used a sponge to clean off the top of the drain.
