After 1 Year of building this Addition we are done
Some of you might remember a progress pic a few months back where we were building a modern bed/bath. The bath has 4'x4' porcelean tiles and the shower has 2"x4" individually set "perfectly imperfect" Heath tiles. total nightmare of a job but after a year I can now look back and remember all of the blood, sweat and many tears but the end result we are very happy with.
sorry about the orientation on the photos..

Hi Jay,
I don't see a drain, and I'm wondering about waterproofing on the window walls.

John, I have a feeling it's hiding there in the middle, between those two tiles.
Nice job, Jay.

John... There is an 11' Linear drain running through the middle. This was a challenge to do since I normally use Schulter drains but they didn't have two that would work with a tile in cover falling on the grout lines. I ended up going with Proline Quickdrains but wouldn't recommend them primarily due to the tile in covers having real crappy plastic spacers to allow you to shim the cover to be flush with the finished tile. I really like the Schluter drains that have set screws to adjust the drain.
As for the Window, this proved to be another nightmare. As we all know Architects love to dream stuff up but really have no clue on the implementation. This window is 9' tall and 7' wide. We ended up applying 3 layers of Kerdi-fix to seal/waterproof this to the kerdi-board on the perimeter and floor. We then did a 5 hour spray test on the window and walls to verify no leaks. Luckily we built a mechanical room below this bathroom so it was easy to verify any leaks before we tiled. We also held off on putting on siding on the exterior until we were done with the leak tests to ensure nothing was leaking to the outside. I pitty the fool who is ever cursed with having to demo out this shower and window.

Kind of glad I'm out of it. Those big pieces of porcelain would break me.

Thanks Isaac
First challenge is finished
Next challenge with 2 x 8 .......... starting with way off alignment
And after recalibration -- wet saw working full time -- ..... start to look decent.

Very sweet Roberto! The best part of those chevrons is when you are finished with them.😁

That wrap work is nice. I hope it gets the appreciation it deserves.
If ever my wife and I become separated in a public place it's usually because I've stopped to admire some detail work. That chevron stuff would definitely trap me for a bit.

Well done on those backsplashes. sweet looking tile. I though am really starting to hate doing these types of jobs. just to tough on the back squatting to place those tiles.
